Fleshler, David  and Pesantes, Erika. “Burmese pythons expanding reach in South Florida.” Sunsentinel.com. Web. 18 March 2012.

  • David Fleshler and Erika Pesantes are writers for the Sunsentinel paper in Florida. They wrote about the concern biologist are having about the migration of python to other parts of South Florida. I used this article to help me explain how the invasive python is affecting Florida.

“Florida: Stopping a Burmese Python Invasion.” Nature.Org. Web. 9 March 2012.

  • This article was written by the Nature Conservancy that briefly describes the traits of the Burmese python and how to slow down the invasion. I used this website to gather information on the prevention measures that are being taken to decrease the python population. Programs like the python hunters are a preventive measure used to capture them.

“How Huge Pythons are Wiping out Florida Mammal Populations?” Dailymail.co.uk. Web. 11 February 2012.

  • Dailymail is an European and American newspaper online, and the author wrote about how the pythons are wiping out other animals. Because the pythons are eating the other animals, it’s creating a shift in the ecological balance. I used this article to describe the dramatic decrease in the number of racoons, deer, and opossums appear around the Everglades.

Land, Molly. “Python Snake Facts.” Ehow. com. Web. 28 March 2012.

  • This article is about the characteristics of the python such as the diet, habitat, and size. It was written by Molly Land who is an Ehow.com contributor that has been writing Web content for almost 10 years. I found this website very informative when I wanted to strengthen my argument that the python is an dangerous animal to have roaming around Florida.

PR Newswire. “Pythons Make Strange Bedfellows; House Judiciary Markup on Python Ban Could Compound Economic Woes Dealt to Reptile Industry by Obama Administration.” News.Yahoo.com. Web. 12 February 2012.

  • This article was posted by PR News to inform people about Congressman Tom Rooney wants to pass a bill out of the House Judiciary Committee in an attempt to add 9 constricting snakes to the Injurious Wildlife list. I believe this is interesting because now the Burmese python problem have become a controversy. Some biologist believe that the python is harmful to the Everglades while University of Florida, the National Geographic Society and the Thailand Natural History Museum criticize them for trying to pass a bill without full on evidence. Some people feel that the bill will not only kill jobs, but put approximately 1 million Americans in jeopardy of becoming Lacey Act felons, and potentially displace thousands of snakes.
